From complete design to supply of the assembly and test production line for high-capacity VULCAN gas valves for an overseas customer.
The project was rendered in close collaboration with our partner company ATS – aplikované technické systémy s.r.o.
The semi-automatic assembly and test line comprised two preliminary, three preassembly and five assembly stations for various operations relating to the fitting, screwing, pressing, crimping, etc., of different components with checks on operation for correct positioning.
Upon complete assembly of the high-capacity gas valve, automatic leak testing of all parts and subsequent automatic checks of all functions at two test stations were carried out.
Transfer of the product between different assembly and test stations was done using specially designed trolleys.
Given the great variability of the assembled product, which has more than a hundred different variations and combinations, the customer placed great emphasis on ensuring that the operator complied with using correct components for the assembly. This was ensured by the camera inspection system, pick-to-light systems and the on-line step-by-step instruction guide for operators.
The line control system uses the LabVIEW platform with continuous downloading of all relevant information relating to the assembly and testing of the gas valve into the database (attained tightening torque of every screw, leak test results, functional tests, etc.)
