Station designed for pressing-in contacts into silent blocks

The automatic single-purpose station dedicated to pressing-in contacts into silent blocks was designed for United Polymers.

It concerned the design and supply of an automatic single-purpose machine for pressing-in sheet metal contact to the rubber silent block; a station with automatic feeding of components, inspection of surface quality using a camera, checks for correct pressing-in, and sorting products into acceptable or rejected items.

Vibrating trays feed and position the components. The sheet metal part is inspected under camera for surface defects and faulty pieces are rejected. Pieces that pass the camera inspections are gripped and pressed into the silent block, and further pressed-in by the pneumatic cylinder. The entire assembly is inspected for critical dimension and the acceptable pieces are marked. Subsequently, the assembly slides into the box with defective pieces and sorts them into the NOK box.

The cycle time is 2.5 seconds.

The single-purpose machine is equipped with a PLC, display, camera and pneumatic connection. Silent block pressing-in video may be viewed on YouTube
